Faculty Research Fellows

What Are Faculty Research Fellows?

If you are in need of support or have questions about the research process or proposal preparation, contact us at resdev@georgiasouthern.edu.

Whether inquiring about getting started in writing proposals for funding or needing additional support while crafting budgets, the Research Faculty Fellows are available to answer questions, guide processes, and direct project inquiries across the Office of Research. In addition to expanding professional development offerings to target proposal planning and preparation, the Research Advocates work one-on-one with faculty to support them in the pre-award stages of research development.

If you are in need of urgent, time-sensitive support for an initiated project, please reach out to your Grant Coordinator.

Dr. Shainaz Landge

Dr. Shainaz Landge is an Associate Professor in the Department of Biochemistry, Chemistry, and Physics. She completed her Ph.D. from the University of Massachusetts, Boston, and then moved on to a postdoctoral position at Dartmouth College. Some of Landge’s research interests include synthetic organic chemistry and supramolecular chemistry. Since joining ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥ in 2010, she has participated in grants totaling more than $2 million in funding from both internal and external sources. Her work has resulted in numerous publications, book chapters, and a patent. She is an active member of the American Chemical Society.

An ardent champion of undergraduate research, Landge serves as the Director of ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥â€™s Vertically Integrated Projects (VIP) Program, which aims to involve undergraduate students in large-scale, long-term, interdisciplinary research projects. She established and led the Freshman Research Initiative (FRI) program called Incorporation of Freshmen in Research for Early Experience (iFREE) at the college (COSM) level.

Additionally, Landge has played an essential role in growing ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥â€™s annual student-led research symposium, GS4 and Community Engaged Research Conference (CERC) with the Medical College of Georgia.

Her commitment to her students is also displayed in her keen interest in chemistry education and the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL). She is on the editorial board for the International SoTL journal and was awarded the University System of Georgia’s Regents’ Scholarship of Teaching and Learning Award in 2025. She currently serves as a Provost Faculty Fellow (PFF) in Research (2024) at ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥ (GS) University. Through this fellowship, she wants to support faculty research and promote the planning and dissemination of the annual event at ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥ Student Scholars Symposium (GS4).
